The short version

This summary is for orientation. The numbered sections below are what actually applies.

1

Who is responsible

The data controller is Simon Grund ApS, a company registered in Denmark under CVR-nr. 44596709. Write to simon@bethaniel.eu about anything in this policy.

2

The newsletter

When you sign up for Notes from Betty — in the newsletter section, after a download, or on your phone — we keep:

We do not store your IP address, your browser or device, or anything about your visit.

2.1 · Your consent, twice

We rely on your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)). You give it by signing up, and confirm it by pressing the button in the welcome email. Until you confirm, you receive no newsletters. If you have not confirmed after three days, we send one reminder, and then nothing more — so if someone else types in your address, you get the welcome email and that one reminder.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link at the foot of every email, which also works as the one-click unsubscribe button your mail app may show. Withdrawing does not affect what was sent before.

2.2 · No open or click tracking

Our newsletters contain no tracking pixel, and their links are not rewritten to pass through a counter. We know how many emails we sent, and which could not be delivered — not who read them.

2.3 · How long
3

The link by email, without the newsletter

On a phone you can ask for Betty's download link by email without subscribing. We use your address to send that one email and do not store it. The email service (section 7) processes it to deliver the message and keeps its usual delivery logs.

4

Discount codes

When the welcome offer is running, confirming your subscription gets you a single-use discount code: it is shown the moment you confirm, and sent to you by email. The code is created in Betty's own cloud service — the one that runs paid cloud jobs — where the app looks it up when you type it in. It is stored there on its own: no email address, no name, nothing that points back to you. We keep the code with your subscription so that signing up twice never produces a second code.

A code works whether or not you stay subscribed. When you use it to buy a cloud job, the cloud terms apply to that purchase, including what Stripe receives at checkout.

5

Paying for a cloud job

The Betty app itself sends us nothing. When you buy a cloud job, the email address you give at Stripe's checkout is stored with the job in Betty's own cloud service, linked to its Stripe payment. We keep it so that the job can be refunded — automatically, if it expires unused — and so that we can help you if something goes wrong with it.

Stored with the job: that email address, the Stripe payment reference, what was bought and for how much, any discount code used, and how much of the job's capacity was used. Never any part of your manuscript — the cloud terms set out what happens to your text. We keep these records for as long as a refund, a support question or our bookkeeping may need them.

We rely on the contract you enter by buying the job (GDPR article 6(1)(b)), and on our legal obligation to keep accounts (article 6(1)(c)).

Who else processes your data

These companies process data on our behalf, under data processing agreements, and only to run the service:

Some of these companies are based in the United States, or may access data from there. Where that is the case, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the company is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

8

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to have its use restricted, to receive it in a portable form, and to object to its use. Write to simon@bethaniel.eu; we answer within a month.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet, or to the authority where you live.

9

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and its date below. A change that needs new consent from you is asked for, not assumed.
